Privacy Policy

Effective August 17, 2026

Who we are

Modwork is a service of Manxz, Inc. (“Modwork,” “we,” “us”). This policy covers the Modwork website and app. It explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have — in plain English.

Two kinds of people show up in this policy: business owners who use Modwork to run their business, and those businesses’ customers, whose contact and billing details a business may store in Modwork. Most of this policy speaks to business owners. If you’re a customer of a business that uses Modwork, the section written for you is below.

Information we collect

Almost everything we collect, you give us directly: you type it, dictate it, or upload it in the app. If you enable the phone agent, callers to your business number speak it on those calls. The rest arrives automatically, as the cookies and logs described below.

  • Account details. When you sign up we collect your email address, a password, your business name, your name, your trade, your city, and your timezone, and you can add a phone number. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and stored only in protected (hashed) form — we never see them in plain text. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google instead of a password. If you sign in with Apple, we receive your name and email address from Apple.
  • Business records you create. The working records of your business: customer contact details (names, phone numbers, email addresses, billing addresses, and notes), service addresses, jobs, price lists, estimates, invoices, and payment records. You control what goes in.
  • Conversations and files. Your messages with your Modwork assistant, files you attach (like photos, PDFs, or spreadsheets), and the durable notes (“memories”) the assistant keeps about how you run your business. We keep your conversation history — it’s what lets your assistant remember context and lets you scroll back.
  • Payment details. Card and bank details go directly to Stripe, our payment processor — they never touch our servers. If you subscribe in our iPhone app, Apple bills you through your App Store account, and we never see those payment details either. We store only references: amounts, payment status, and payment identifiers.
  • Automatic data. Essential cookies that keep you signed in, standard server logs and error reports, and anonymous, cookieless page-view counts so we can see which pages get visited. Those counts are never tied to you or your account. We do not use advertising cookies or any cross-site tracking.

How we use information

We use your information to:

  • run the service — your assistant reads your business records to do its job (draft estimates, prepare invoices, look up customers, and so on);
  • bill your subscription and manage your account;
  • respond when you contact us for help;
  • keep the service secure and prevent abuse (for example, rate limits);
  • comply with the law.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

AI processing

Modwork is built around an AI assistant. To generate its responses, your messages, attachments, and the business records the assistant works with are processed by Anthropic, the company behind the Claude model that powers it. Under Anthropic’s commercial API terms, this data is not used to train their models.

When you dictate a message instead of typing, your voice recording is sent to Groq, a speech-to-text provider, and turned into text. The recording is used only to produce that text — Groq doesn’t use it to train models, and it isn’t retained after transcription. Only the resulting text is kept, as part of your message.

Who we share information with

We share information only with the service providers that run Modwork, and only so they can do that:

  • Supabase — our database and sign-in provider, where your account and business records are stored;
  • Anthropic — the AI provider behind your assistant (see above);
  • Groq — speech-to-text, only when you use voice dictation to compose a message;
  • Stripe — payments, both your subscription to Modwork and the invoices your business collects;
  • Vercel — hosting for the app and the assistant, and cookieless, anonymized visit analytics;
  • Google — only if you choose to sign in with Google;
  • Apple — only if you sign in with Apple or subscribe through the App Store in our iPhone app;
  • RevenueCat — our App Store subscription manager, which links an App Store purchase to your account;
  • Resend — email delivery, both account emails (like sign-up confirmations) and the estimates, invoices, and payment-plan signup links your business sends;
  • Telnyx — our texting carrier, only if you verify a mobile number to reach your assistant by text; and, if you enable the phone agent, our voice-AI provider: call audio is processed in real time by Telnyx and its model and voice subprocessors — Moonshot AI (the language model) and Deepgram (speech-to-text) — to answer the call, and we store transcripts of those calls — never audio recordings;
  • Sentry — error monitoring that helps us fix crashes and bugs.

Every provider above is bound by its agreement with us to protect your information with the same or equal protection as this policy describes, and to use it only to provide their service to us.

Beyond that, we would disclose information only if the law requires it, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of the company — and in that case this policy would continue to apply to your data. We never sell personal information, and we never share it for advertising.

Text messaging

If you opt in to receive text messages from Modwork (for example, to work with your assistant over SMS), the following applies:

  • Consent to receive texts is never a condition of purchase. Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply.
  • You can reply STOP at any time to stop receiving messages, or HELP for help.
  • Mobile information will not be sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for promotional or marketing purposes. Text-messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.

Shared document links

When a business sends an estimate or invoice, Modwork puts it on a page with a private link — a long, unguessable web address. That page shows the business’s name and contact email, the customer’s name, the line items, and the amounts. Anyone who has the link can view the page, so treat those links like the documents themselves.

How long we keep information

We keep your data for as long as your account is active — including your conversation history, which powers your assistant’s memory. You can delete your account and its data anytime in Settings → Account, or email hello@modwork.ai and we’ll take care of it. Copies may remain for a time in encrypted backups and in the systems of the service providers listed above, and we may keep records we’re legally required to keep (like billing records).

Security

Your data is encrypted in transit, and each business’s records are isolated from every other business’s at the database level. Card and bank details are handled entirely by Stripe. No online service can promise perfect security, but we work to keep your data safe and will tell you if something goes wrong.

Your rights and choices

You can view and update most of your information directly in the app, and delete your account and its data in Settings → Account. Depending on where you live (including California), you may also have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information. Email hello@modwork.ai and we’ll honor those requests. We’ll never treat you differently for exercising them.

If you're a customer of a business that uses Modwork

Businesses use Modwork to store their customers’ contact details and billing history — things like your name, phone number, email, service address, and invoices. That data belongs to the business you hired: we process it on their behalf, use it only to provide the service, and never sell it or use it for advertising. If you’d like your information corrected or deleted, the fastest path is to contact that business directly. You can also email us at hello@modwork.ai and we’ll help.

Children

Modwork is a business tool. It isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.

Changes to this policy

As Modwork evolves, we’ll update this policy and change the effective date above. If a change is material, we’ll give you reasonable notice — for example, by email or in the app.
